Information

Performance diagnostics in NRW, we have been known for this since 2005, initially in Dortmund and since 2012 centrally in Witten in the Ruhr area. Our performance diagnostics is a combination of different procedures and differs from classical procedures such as the (lactate) step test or spiroergometry. The aim of our methods is not so much to calculate but rather to measure as much relevant data as possible. In addition, we endeavour to use a procedure which is valid here on site as well as our customers who live further away, e.g. with a power meter. It goes without saying that the extensive preliminary examinations have to be omitted on your own, but exact performance data have to be recorded and training areas determined in this way.

We also strive to improve our knowledge and improve our training and tests through continuous testing and practical experience of our customers, further education through literature, distance learning or webinars with coaches from the USA.
We are not afraid to change our procedures, we are of the opinion that if you try to achieve the optimum you have to constantly question yourself, and not to be too stubborn to go new ways when you come to the realization that it goes even better.
The results are practical test procedures that have as little influence as possible on the athlete and deliver precise results either in the laboratory or on their own initiative.

Testing Procedures

In our tests we attach great importance to testing the performance spectrum of an athlete as comprehensively as possible, therefore the test today consists of an individual load length (depending on performance) and is run as a racing simulation. Two three-minute breaks are included with each length, all sections are to be carried out with individually high load.
The measurement of power, oxygen saturation of the muscle in real time, heart rate & heart stress give an exact picture of the load at hand.

During the compilation of the test procedure we have oriented ourselves on the practical tests that leading trainers carry out, e.g. with professional cyclists, combined with our decades of experience that test procedures with rigid specifications often achieved worse results for our customers.

The tests are carried out with the most modern diagnostic instruments, it is also important to us here that the measurements record as accurately as possible what awaits you in reality. For example, a Wahoo Climb is used for cycling tests so that the muscular loads on inclines can be realistically simulated. Customers from far away in and abroad as far as the USA take advantage of this.

A high-quality electrolyte drink is administered for optimal care during diagnostics.

After the test each athlete receives a regeneration shake to accelerate the muscular regeneration.
It is very important for us to know which test method is the right one and which calculation method keeps the choice out of the discussion. Lactate test, spiroergometry, 3 min, steps, 5 min steps, ramp test, step test - the selection appears almost infinite. We burden you, put simply, so long and hard that we determine the value at stake, namely your individual threshold performance, to a large extent instead of trying to derive and calculate it somehow. This takes longer and is very strenuous, but when you work with the data in practice you will notice that it fits.

In 2014 we predicted the cycling times of our athletes in various Ironman Races to +/- 7 min, and that at a 180km distance, in 2017 it became even more precise, something like this speaks for itself...

In addition, we have already carried out other methods ourselves for years (lactate level tests with 6, later with 12min steps) or tested (spiroergometry, here we could prove a reduction in performance through the mask), at the end we have as in all areas and always thought about whether we do not see potential for improvement and then if necessary also implemented this, we will continue this way so that we will hopefully continue to develop in the coming years.

For customers in ongoing training support, we will even be so individual in 2017 that the tests will look different for every athlete.

Cardiac stress measurement incl. ECG recording, body scan, blood pressure check. Within our framework, we use this data to clarify the basic health of sport and look for potential for optimisation. We are certified Cardiovascular Anti-Stress Center

Diagnostics

The best test procedure for you will be selected and applied according to your individual performance level, even beginners will have a load time of just under 40 minutes. During the load a high quality electrolyte drink is served

No later than 7 days after your appointment with us, you will receive an evaluation and presentation of all preliminary examinations, an assessment of your test performance including initial approaches for improvement and, as a first customer, 4 weeks of individual training planning (only for laboratory diagnostics, not for field tests).

Running technique analysis within the diagnostic procedure

Use the opportunity of a detailed "real" run to get even more out of diagnostics

You've been here already, you've run relatively long (tempo from walking to maximum speed) - ideal conditions to learn something about your running technique. The advantage over buying running shoes (where we also use this technique) and pure running technique analysis is the length of the run. You don't run to judge the technique but you are focused on your performance and you will get tired, so there will be changes compared to a loose 5min run, ideal to collect this data.

We can see how you set up, at which step speed you need the least watts (most economical running), whether your shoe choice is suitable for your running style and where there is still potential for improvement.
We can compare your data with many other runners, so we do not (only) follow a theoretical ideal, but we can tell you that you overpronate more than 85% of the other runners and for your extreme forefoot run you have a much longer ground contact than 92% of the other runners. This way we can point out possible problems and possibilities for improvement.

In the following we see, for example, an athlete with a very light shoe as he is currently in fashion, despite a not extremely high running speed of approx. 45min on 10km, he puts massively over the forefoot, it looked like a dancing ballerina during running, resulting in enormous stress in the forefoot, especially on the outside. In addition, the load on the right is stronger, dysbalances can also lead to injuries.
